Thoai Nam is an Associate Professor at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT). He holds a Ph.D. from Johannes Kepler University of Linz, Austria.
As the founder and director of the High-Performance Computing Lab at HCMUT, his research focuses on High-Performance Computing, Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud computing, and network protocols. His current projects involve investigating the performance of high-performance computing systems using virtual machines and containers on new architectures, as well as developing infrastructure for high-performance data analytics platforms, and the Smart Village project in Dong Thap province.
Thoai Nam has also held several leadership positions, including serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from 2007 to 2018, where he oversaw two programs, Computer Science and Computer Engineering, both accredited by ABET. In 2019, he established the Advanced Institute of Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (iST) at HCMUT.
Additionally, Thoai Nam serves as the Research Chair of the HCMC ICT research program, supporting the development of Smart Cities and Industry 4.0 initiatives from 2018 to 2023.
